Pet Urine Removal Process:

Step 1: Locate the pet urine in the carpet.
This is very simple to do. Using a black light in a darkend room, pet urine spots will appear as
floresent green/yellowish color (like the color of a glow stick). Place some type of indicator on
the floor so that you will know where they are once the lights are back on.

Step 2: Determine and Perform the Procedure You Should Use

There are Three different procedures for cleaning pet urine out of carpet.
1. Clean and Deodorize Method: Easiest, Fastest, Most Inexpensive
2. Top Down Method: Relatively Easy, Relatively inexpensive
3. Complete Restoration Method: Most Expensive, Most Involved, But Hands Down the Most Effective.

Depending on the severity of the pet odor, you can determine which procedure is best for you.
If the odor is only slightly noticable, or it comes and goes depending on the day
(humidity or moisture will cause pet odor to be stronger). Then usually the 1st method will be
sufficient. If you can smell the odor on a regular basis, but it isn't an overwhelming odor. Then
the Top Down Method will usually be sufficient. If the odor is constant and has a very strong
or overwhelming odor. Then the Complete Restoration Method is recommended.

1. Clean and Deodorize Method:

A. Once you have determined the location of the urine spots in carpet, apply a generous amount of the disinfectant/deodorizer to the infected area of the carpet. Make sure that you apply enough of the product to absorb all the way into the backing of the carpet.
B. Allow the disinfectant to sit on the carpet for a minimum of 30 minutes, or as directed. Then using a home or commercial cleaning machine, thoroughly clean the carpets as normal. Making sure to rinse the carpet in the infected areas a couple of extra times.
C. Dry Carpet as quickly as possible using a fan, ceiling fan or by opening doors and windows if possible.

**(A general rule of thumb about cleaning pet urine is that if you can not smell it very strong when the
carpet is dry, then you won't be able to smell it after you have cleaned and dried the carpet. Just remember
that most urine stains will create a stronger smell once they are wet, but will usually go away after they are
dry).

2. Top Down Method, Cleaning The Urine From the Top Down:

A.. Once you have determined the location of the urine spots in carpet, apply a generous amount of the Pet Urine Treatment to the infected area of the carpet. Make sure that you apply enough of the product to soak all the way into the backing of the carpet, and even the padding if you think the urine has soaked down that far. This will most likely be the case if you have large pets, or if your pet urinates on the carpet in the same place multiple times.
B. Allow the product to sit on the carpet for a minimum of 15-20 minutes, or as directed. Then extract using a home or commercial cleaning machine. Rinse the carpet thoroughly with warm water until you have sucked out as much of the product and pet urine as possible.
C. Clean the carpets as normal using a general carpet cleaning product. This will not only help to remove any remaining urine and product, but will also help remove any stains or in the carpet and make them as clean as possible.
D. Dry Carpet with as quickly as possible using a fan, ceiling fan or opening doors and windows if possible. But a fan is highly recommended.

**(Again, remember the urine smell will actually be stronger until the carpet is dry.)

3. Complete Restoration Method:

**Note this method is for use after other methods have failed. It will require several
steps, usually over a two or three day period. It may also require a professional carpet
installer if you can not perform that step on your own.

A. Once you have determined the location of the urine spots in the carpet, Pull up the carpet so that the you can see the infected area on the backing of the carpet.
B. Cut out and replace any of the padding and tack strip that has been infected by the pet urine. Especially the tack strip. Wood holds the pet urine odor very well, and is virtually impossible to remove.
C. Using a Pet Urine Treatment Product, apply to the floor and walls where the pet urine may have soaked in. (Caution: Do NOT spray the walls any higher then what the carpet will cover up). Allow the product to sit for 30 minutes, or as directed.
D. Apply the Pet Urine Treatment Product to the back of the carpet, allowing it to sit for a minimum of 15-20 minutes, or as directed.
E. Extract the backing of the carpet using warm water until you feel it is thoroughly rinsed. Avoid excess cleaning of the carpet backing as it may cause it to become loose.
F. Completely dry the backing of the carpet using a fan as quickly as possible. This may take several hours, or even overnight it you do not have a good fan.
G. Lay the carpet back down and apply the Pet Urine Treatment Product to the top of the carpet in the areas that you marked in step one. Allow to sit for a minimum of 15-20 minutes, or as directed.
H. Extract the Pet Urine Treatment from the carpet using a home or commercial cleaning machine using warm water.
I. Clean the carpets as normal using a general carpet cleaning product. This will not only help to remove an remaining urine and product, but will also help remove any stains or in the carpet and make them as clean as possible.
J. Dry Carpet with as quickly as possible using a fan, ceiling fan or opening doors and windows if possible. But a fan is highly recommended.
K. Stretch and reattach your carpet to the new tack strip. This may require hiring a professional carpet installer.

*If none of the following methods effectively remove the pet urine odor to your satisfaction, then it is recommended that you either contact a professional carpet cleaning company, or most likely investigate the option of replacing your carpet
.
**Note that if you try the complete restoration method and it does not work, it is very likely that even a professional carpet cleaner will not be able to remove the odor any better. You are most likely better off using the money to replace your carpets.
