Fingernail Polish
Removal Process
First of all, nail polish isn't as bad as it sounds,
you just can't panic and do something that will damage
the carpet long term. The first thing that you need
to do is remove as much of the polish as possible while
it is still wet. Hopefully you read this before it completely
dries, but it is doubtful that you will. So the next
thing to do is get as much of the nail polish off of
the carpet as you can using just regular fingernail
polish remover. However, us as little as possible because
it is a very strong solvent and can damage the backing
of the carpet if you over use it.
So here is the best technique for removing the dried
on polish from the
carpet. Using a white cloth or rag, apply the polish
remover to the rag. then using a soft rubbing motion
work the carpet fibers in a small circular motion. You
will need to reapply the polish remover quite a few
times. as the polish starts to soften and break down,
it will transfer to the rag. Don't be alarmed if it
looks like it is starting to smear, we will take care
of the stain in a minute. continue to work the fingernail
polish out of the carpet until there is no more polish
being removed by the rag. The main thing you are trying
to accomplish is to remove the hardend polish, dried
on polish from the carpet fibers. If you have to apply
the polish remover directly to the carpet in order to
get it removed, us it in small drops at a time and the
blot it out with a rag quickly. This process can take
a very long time, an hour or two isn't uncommon.
Once all of the actual nail polish is removed, there
is most likely going to be a stain that remains which
is the color of the fingernail polish itself. This is
expected and now we can deal with the stain, but again
make sure you have removed as much of the actual fingernail
polish as possible before continuing onto the stain
removal step.
If the fingernail polish was red (or any shade of red/pink)
then all you will need to do to remove the stain or
dye that is left is to order some of the Red
Rtain Remover we sell and it will take out the red
stain that is remaining. If the polish is any color
besides red, then you will want to order the Magic
Stain Remover instead. both products come with complete
instructions on how to use and remove these types of
stains.
We have done this exact same procedure many times and
have had great result each time. I hope this helps.
If you have any other questions please feel free to
email or call. Have a great day, and remember don't
panic.
